“Shame On You”: AOC Gets Shut Down at Her Own Event by Furious Heckler
A Palestine advocate confronted AOC during a public assembly, causing attendees to burst into loud protests while pressuring the progressive representative to defend her stance on the divisive Israel-Palestine matter, which has created sharp disagreements throughout the political landscape.
During a public assembly in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York City, on May 2, 2025, a person who called herself a "healthcare worker" attacked AOC during her speech, yelling at the representative and demanding to hear her answer about the "genocide in Gaza." AOC tried to calm the audience, which broke into jeers and cries of "Shame! Shame!" before security removed the protester from the venue.
Press reports identified the protester as Jennifer Kings through Newsweek coverage. Kings rose while Ocasio-Cortez spoke and declared, "I'm a healthcare worker, and I want to know what you're doing about the genocide in Gaza." Kings then branded AOC a "war criminal," pointing angrily at her while the audience responded with loud disapproval. Kings continued, "At least with the Republican Party, we know what we are dealing with, you're a snake."
Kings pressed on, "Stop the genocide. Do something." "Shame on you." The crowd maintained their vocal objections while Kings declared, "I'm a nurse," before pointing and yelling, "Shame on you," and repeating, "What are you doing about the genocide in Gaza?" AOC responded, "I'm happy to take your question," while other attendees stood to help settle Kings down.
Some audience members pointed at Kings and declared, "Let her speak," but several town hall participants guided Kings toward the exit. Press reports indicate that following Kings' departure from the event, Ocasio-Cortez stated, "I more than welcome people who disagree or are super pissed off at me for any issue to come, but we have some ground rules here. Please wait for the Q&A because we don't want to deprive all of our neighbors of the ability to have information and hear them respond to it."
Beyond disrupting AOC's public meeting, Kings has consistently attacked the congresswoman for her apparent lack of action regarding the Gaza conflict, informing her nearly 60,000 Instagram followers, "It took AOC like three hours to condemn the killing of two individuals last night," referring to the murder of two Israeli embassy staff members outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. on May 21, 2025.
Kings added, "And based on my counting, the total blockade of Gaza began March 2, no food, no water, no medicine has entered, and AOC only released a statement with weak criticism yesterday." She wrote in the post's description, "I condemn the 594 days of industrial-scale mass killing by the US NATO Zionist axis of evil." She continued, "How many Palestinian babies and children have we seen get murdered on live broadcast during the past 19 months?? Silence is CRIMINAL."
Also, in a separate video shared on May 16, 2025, Kings attached a sign that stated, "AOC is helping a genocide in Gaza" outside Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's office, declaring, "Shame on every single person, and especially every single elected public official, who is not doing EVERYTHING in their power to stop the mass killing campaign happening in Gaza."
