Nancy Pelosi struggled with her words during her attack on President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill." The former House Speaker stumbled through her criticism of legislation that offers significant tax breaks for seniors. Conservative critics responded harshly to the elderly Democrat politician's performance online.

Pelosi delivered her remarks at an anti-Trump gathering on May 21, 2025. The 85-year-old politician criticized President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" and labeled it a "reverse Robin Hood" plan. Her seven-minute speech contained multiple verbal errors. After portions of Pelosi's comments appeared on X, Republican supporters mocked the Democrat. Many suggested she appeared intoxicated during her presentation.

During her address, Pelosi described the "Big, Beautiful Bill" as "A Republican reverse Robin Hood." She stated, "They are taking from people who should have it, who — need to help — and giving to the richest people in America—just a — just as they did in 2017." Pelosi added, "The last time they had the White House and the majority in Congress, they, um, they put a tax bill that gave 83% of the benefits to the top 1%. To the top 1%! It's sinful. It's immoral. It's wrong."

Pelosi's remarks became more confused as she criticized the Trump Administration. She said, "But let me say this, because I think it's important to know. We're saying they're cutting Medicaid and SNAP and all that to pay for their tax cut. No. They're taking their tax cut no matter what. They don't care if it's paid for or not. What they're trying to do is undo governance for the people—undo Medicare, undo Medicaid, undo Social Security."

The former House speaker then called the "Big, Beautiful Bill" "a bigger plot than their usual tax \[unintelligible\]." She continued, "Last time, they claimed to be so fiscally sound, they brought, uh, 'We can't feed the children because it's going to add to the national debt, but we can give tax breaks to the richest people in America.'"

Pelosi's speech errors increased as she continued. She stated that a previous bill added "$2 trillion in 19 —uh, excuse me — in 2017 —it added $2 trillion to the national debt! This time, chicken feed! They're (sic) wanna add $4.5 trillion to the national debt!" The crowd responded with boos. Pelosi kept speaking: "Now, at the same time, talk about cutting a trillion dollars —over $700 billion from Medicaid and $300 billion from SNAP. Just that: a trillion dollars."

Pelosi's strange comments continued as she claimed President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" removed "food out of the mouths of babies" and placed "money in the pocket (sic) of billionaires." She went on, "But we have to be hopeful, because in '17, when they did what they did, in '18, with the help of so many of you, we held 10,000 events around the country to save the Affordable Care Act."

Conservative influencer Merica posted a clip from Pelosi's speech on X. She immediately turned Pelosi into a target for ridicule. Merica wrote, "Either she just had a stroke, or she is drunk off her a–! As long as these people keep representing the Dems, MAGA keeps winning!" One user replied to the post, "I'm casting my vote as 'Drunk!'"
