US President Donald Trump clarifies there was 'no Tariff exception' but items are merely shifting to 'a different Tariff bucket'. On April a date labeled 'Liberation Day' for America, Donald Trump introduced multiple tariffs affecting nations worldwide, with China receiving the harshest impact. China faced an enormous 145 percent tariff on its products "effective immediately" after it attempted to respond with its own countering tariffs. China's commerce ministry urged the US to "take a big step back to fix its errors" and "return to the correct path of mutual respect." On April 11, Trump's team appeared to quietly retreat, stating smartphones, computers and certain items would be free from the increased tariffs, including Chinese goods. However, this might be a tactical retreat before a new advance. On April 13, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick informed ABC News that these exemptions could be short-lived and a "semiconductor tariff" might soon be announced instead. Trump posted on Truth Social on April 13, writing: "We are examining Semiconductors and the WHOLE ELECTRONICS SUPPLY CHAIN in the upcoming National Security Tariff Investigations. What has been shown is that we need to make products in the United States, and that we will not be held captive by other Countries, especially unfriendly trading Nations like China, which will do everything in its power to disrespect the American People. We also cannot allow them to continue to mistreat us on Trade, as they have for decades, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER!"

Trump warned that "nobody" is "escaping" the unfair Trade Balances, and "Non Monetary Tariff Barriers that other Countries have used against [the US], especially not China which treats [the US] the worst by far!" Trump explained: "There was no Tariff 'exception' announced on Friday. These products are subject to the current 20 percent Fentanyl Tariffs, and they are simply moving to a different Tariff 'bucket.' The Fake News knows this, but refuses to report it."

The President concluded: "The Golden Age of America, which includes the coming Tax and Regulation Cuts, a large amount of which was just approved by the House and Senate, will mean more and better paying Jobs, creating products in our Nation, and treating other Countries, particularly China, the same way they have treated us. The bottom line is that our Country will be larger, better, and stronger than ever before. We will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
