A Maryland native who vanished during a holiday in the Bahamas with his family was discovered lifeless on a beach the following day, his relatives report. They find the death questionable after officials located 23-year-old Dinari McAlmont dead on Paradise Island in Nassau on April 6, just half a day after he arrived on the island with his parents.

Michelle McAlmont, Dinari's mother, informed Eyewitness News Bahamas that she was "traumatized" after seeing her son's body, claiming he showed signs of assault, as first covered by FOX 5 D.C.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Commissioner Shanta Knowles told Eyewitness News that they await McAlmont's post-mortem results. The commissioner did not promptly answer an inquiry from Fox News Digital.

The McAlmont family stayed at The Reef at Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas. Dinari seemingly left his parents during their meal to get a jacket, which is when he went missing, and his parents reported his absence when they failed to find him using phone GPS data.

"We feel great sadness about the death of one of our guests," the resort stated to Fox News Digital. "Our thoughts go to his family in this hard time. We are completely helping authorities as they look into the case."

The State Department has set a Level 2 Travel Advisory for the Bahamas, also covering Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Netherlands Antilles and Turks and Caicos. This advisory cautions visitors to "notice increased dangers to safety and security."
