Chinese restaurant shut down after horrifying discovery of what their 'roast duck' really was
Police inspection at a Chinese eatery revealed that guests who ordered the 'roast duck' specialty might have consumed something completely different.
Jin Gu operates in Madrid's Usera neighborhood, Spain's capital city, and in late March, law enforcement conducted a search following several complaints. After the police examination, the establishment was closed for breaking multiple health regulations.

Officers discovered a kitchen filled with cockroaches and unlabeled products, including meat and fish. The odor was so offensive that one Madrid Municipal Police officer remarked about it.
"The place reeked of spoiled seafood; it was nearly impossible to tolerate," they informed local news source El Mundo.
But they found more disturbing things.
Police uncovered plucked pigeons, with El Mundo stating that workers were capturing the birds from streets and "killing them by kicking."
Additionally, there were eight freezers reportedly holding unmarked items, without any expiration dates visible, making them impossible to trace.

Fire safety equipment wasn't properly stored - they weren't placed at the legally required minimum height - while emergency exits were blocked by trash containers.
The restaurant also lacked thermometers in storage areas to check and record temperatures, which Spanish law mandates.
And these issues only covered the visible sections of the property.
A "hidden space" situated behind a shelf in the accessible toilet was also found, which wasn't on building plans, containing almost 300kg of spoiled food inside rusty freezers, according to officers.
Meat strips hung drying on a clothesline, while investigators found rat traps baited with meat and a grease-covered ventilation fan.
This led to the venue's shutdown, with Jin Gu's proprietor now under investigation for potential crimes involving animal cruelty, public health violations, and consumer rights infringements.

Nearby residents claim they had reported the restaurant to officials many times.
"None of us ate there," one neighbor told the Spanish publication.
"It had a foul smell, and we observed meals delivered on a trolley and abandoned at the entrance in plain daylight," the local added.
Surprisingly, the restaurant maintained a 4.2-star rating on Google - though one customer noted issues with the supposed 'roast duck' dish.
"The duck seems somewhat dry with numerous bones, not particularly flavorful," they wrote in a review five years earlier.
