Despite his billionaire status and leadership of multiple companies, Musk finds ample time to remain constantly active online, particularly on Twitter. While he typically shares content about his businesses like Tesla and SpaceX, he also posts videos related to American politics. His latest retweet, however, has angered many Twitter users by sharing content that appeared to minimize the responsibility of Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong for millions of deaths. The shared post stated: "Stalin, Mao, and Hitler didn't murder millions of people. Their public sector workers did."

Twitter users quickly expressed their anger toward Musk for distributing this message. One person responded: "Is this the - seriously disturbed and flawed - reasoning why Elon thinks Hitler is so cool? Sieg Heil, Elon - enjoy your burning swasticars…" Another upset user added: "Elon Musk is disgusting POS. I hate him & I hope he starts receiving what he deserves." A third wrote: "Elon Musk to publish anything like this is unbelievable. Shame on you." Someone else criticized: "On. Their. Orders. These men were dictators. They ORDERED massacres. You can add Putin to that list. Elon Musk is again, minimizing the danger of dictatorships and the horrible of living under one. That salute was exactly what the world thought it was!"

Beyond regular Twitter users, Lee Saunders, union president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees of the AFL-CIO, responded directly to Musk. He stated: "America's public service workers — our nurses, teachers, firefighters, librarians — chose making our communities safe, healthy and strong over getting rich. They are not, as the world's richest man implies, genocidal murderers." Saunders further noted: "Elon Musk and the billionaires in this administration have no idea what real people go through every day. That's why he's so willing to take a chainsaw to people's jobs, Medicaid, Social Security and Medicare." This incident follows recent allegations that Musk made a Nazi salute during Trump's inauguration.

He responded to these accusations by posting a series of jokes and puns about infamous Nazi leaders on Twitter.
