Grandma’s final photo of granddaughter minutes before she’s killed
A grandmother captured a poignant photograph of her three-year-old granddaughter moments before the child's life ended tragically.
Reports reveal that Scarlett Jensen died in a hit-and-run incident on October 7, 2022. Her grandmother was watching her and her two-year-old brother Henry while their parents, Samantha Jensen and her husband, attended a wedding.
The tragic event happened during a walk on their private driveway in Oldtown, Idaho. A speeding Chevy Tahoe struck Scarlett, her grandmother, and her brother without warning.
Samantha Jensen described how her mother tried to protect the children. "My mother screamed and waved, attempting to move my children away, but the vehicle moved too fast," she said.
Scarlett died at the scene, while her siblings survived with severe injuries. The driver escaped on foot but police caught him miles away. He received a ten-year prison sentence.
Henry's injuries included a broken spine, ribs, jaw, collarbone, and damaged liver. He spent a week in intensive care and wore a body brace for ten weeks. The grandmother recovered from multiple fractures after hospital treatment.
Later, Samantha found comfort in a photo on her mother's lost phone. The picture showed Scarlett picking flowers, taken just minutes before the accident.
The final image came from a happy ice cream outing. "Scarlett wanted to pick flowers when we got home," Samantha said. "That's when my mom took her last living photo."
Samantha describes her ongoing struggle with loss. "Some days overwhelm me, others I manage better," she said. The family seeks healing through therapy and religious faith.
Samantha initially struggled to view the last photograph of her daughter. Two years after the tragedy, she now sees the picture as a precious memory of Scarlett's life.
"This photo means everything to me," Samantha explained. "It shows her peaceful final moments, surrounded by nature's beauty. I cherish the memory of her happy and free, collecting flowers with her grandmother and closest companion."
May Scarlett's soul find eternal peace.
