A structure under construction in Bangkok, Thailand, fell after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar. The devastating quake struck the nearby nation, creating waves of impact across the region, bringing disorder in its path. Numerous structures swayed from the tremors, but one unfinished high-rise tumbled down. Video captured by witnesses displays the massive structure struggling above the unstable ground movements, and since it was incomplete, it quickly fell apart.

In the recording, people frantically try to escape from the building site in the Chatuchak area before the high-rise turned into debris and dust. Bangkok law enforcement told the Associated Press that officers were going to the location, but they were uncertain how many individuals were working at the site when the event happened.

Though no immediate injury reports surfaced, a BBC update suggests 43 construction workers are missing after the 30-story structure collapsed. Seven workers got away while 43 others stayed trapped, stated the National Institute for Emergency Medicine on Facebook.

Worapat Sukthai, deputy police chief of Bang Sue district, informed AFP: "When I arrived to inspect the site, I heard people calling for help, saying help me."

The earthquake hit Bangkok at about 1:30pm local time today (March 28), triggering alarms and forcing people to leave buildings onto streets.

Local news sources report that the Ava Bridge in Myanmar also fell due to the earthquake, and another video on Twitter showed water from a Bangkok tower's roof pool splashing down the building's side as it rocked.

A Myanmar Fire Services Department representative told Reuters they are actively searching for victims in the city. They said: "We have started the search and going around Yangon to check for casualties and damage. So far, we have no information yet."

Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention noted that people felt the Myanmar earthquake in almost all parts of the country.

While the full damage in Myanmar remains unclear, as the country faces civil war, reports indicate some homes and holy sites in the capital Naypyidaw suffered effects.

According to the US Geological Survey and Germany's GFZ Centre for Geosciences, the 7.7 magnitude earthquake had its center 6.2 miles below ground, and 12 minutes after the first shock, a second one registered 6.4 on the Richter scale.
